The Tampa Bay area is an incredibly boat-friendly community, making it super easy for boat owners to enjoy the beautiful, scenic locale and all of what the area has to offer – right from the water. From amazing restaurants to the area’s most popular attractions and venues, there are a ton of places you can travel to by boat, drop anchor, and stay for a while. Here’s a list of our favorites…
Hillsborough River, the 8-acre Curtis Hixon park is nestled in the heart of downtown Tampa and next door to the Tampa Museum of Art. Both are home to year-round events. From art shows to music festivals, there’s always something going on at this scenic locale.
See a Show at the Straz Center: Arrive in style to see a Broadway play…by boat. The Straz Center is one of Tampa’s most popular destinations for music events, Broadway plays, local theatre acts, and more. After you dock the boat and before you see the show, enjoy a cocktail overlooking the Hillsborough River.
Get a Tropical Drink at The Getaway in St. Petersburg: There’s nothing better than an ice cold beer or creative cocktail at a tiki hut bar and grill. With that being said, you’ve got to try The Getaway in St. Petersburg. Complete with an amazing waterfront location overlooking the mangroves of the Weedon Island Preserve, it’s a relaxing escape with a food and drink menu that will make your mouth water. Check their website for their live music lineup from great local acts!
Enjoy Happy Hour at Hula Bay: Another go-to spot on the food and drink list is Hula Bay, located along Tampa Bay right next to Tampa Harbour. This laid back locale is the best spot for happy hour where you will enjoy great drink specials and a lineup of daily live entertainment that you don’t want to miss.
Take Your Pup to the Davis Islands Dog Park and Beach: When boat-friendly meets dog-friendly, you’ve got the dog beach located next to the Davis Islands boat ramp. Dogs are allowed to roam free in either of the two main areas – a dry field or the beach area with 200 fee of fenced-in waterfronts space.
Meet Other Boaters at the Sandbar Near Weedon Island Preserve: Located next to the beautiful 3,190- acre Weedon Island Preserve is a sandbar, the perfect spot to meet up with other boaters and hang for the day. Pull up the boat, take a swim, and take in the beautiful atmosphere.
